Trouble here is that how many times i connect the otg adaptor to my note 8 and try dissimilar memory carte du jour readers or flash drives. It does not observe anything at all.. even reset my phone with the adaptor withal in and still nothing.. my phones charges fine with its cable and connects and reads fine on my laptop.
Heres the strange part. I try connect my portable dvd writer bulldoze and information technology powers up with the otg adaptor. I then unplug the dvd author and plug in my flash drives and memory card readers and everything works fine. But when i take out the otg adaptor and plug information technology dorsum in once again. It dosnt get detected again.. not unless i plug in the dvd writer.. its so weird its doing my head in. Is information technology my phone or what? I even bought some other otg adaptor hoping maybe i just had a dogey adaptor, but no i accept the same trouble eith the new 1.
I want to be able to be on the go and be able to maybe use the benefits of charging another friends phone with mine or perchance only transfer stuff. I dont want to carry this dvd drive with me lol.
I'thou tempted to endeavour another mill reset again merely i have so much stuff on my phone i wanna leave this to last resort.
If anyone could shed some light on my situation i'd exist well happy.

It does not detect anything at all.. even reset my phone with the adaptor still in and yet zilch.. my phones charges fine with its cable and connects and reads fine on my laptop.

It does support information technology natively but the otg adapter that comes with information technology is finicky unless using samsung smart switch. Get a modest footling otg adapter similar from anker. I use an anker one for my 2tb hdd. Now, some devices may say they are ntfs, but yous may still accept to format them using your android phone so that the file organization is fully uniform.

I did now upgrade smart switch because perchance it might have helped but sadly no. Even smart switch dosnt detect anything unless i pug in the dvd writer, then it will start showing any connected deviced..
Does no i have whatever tips if this is hardware or software problem?

Hi,
I also take a very like problem. I used to connect my notation eight to the reckoner and otg adapter with usb stick and could transfer files without any consequence, but all of a sudden I can't transfer files...but charge.
I tried a unlike cable, dissimilar adaptor (all original), usb debugging on, MTP selected.... and I even tried manufactory reset.
Could it exist that my usb type c port is damaged?
Delight advise.

Omar

I finally got it working now. I manufactory restored my phone but it didn't assistance with anything so i felt i wasted my fourth dimension as at present i have to restore everything back onto my annotation 8.
Just anyhow how i got my note eight to get otg working continuously even if i unplugged the otg adaptor different earlier information technology would stop working then i woupd have to plug in my portable dvd drive to keep waking the telephone to work wben the otg adaptor was continued.
I basically activated the otg via the dvd bulldoze and then plugged in a sd card reader then restarted the phone while still attached. It however worked even if i took out the otg adaptor and plugged information technology back in.
I did 2 tests after this.
Reset phone with no otg adaptor continued. (WORKED)
powered off phone and back on no otg connected. (WORKED)
Honestly take no idea what was wrong with the phone and why the otg simply ever activated when i plugged in my portable dvd drive and non my flash drives or connect to another telephone to charge, but what i did seemed like it helped to reactivate the otg and get it working properly again.

If you accept a micro-sd card inserted into the phone and then OTG does not work.
Take out the micro-sd and OTG miraculously shows up in My files/ ES file explorer etc.
Although ES file explorer is able to detec both the micro sd and the OTG information technology will give out an fault when trying to access the OTG.
This is clearly a software issue that Samsung should address.

I'one thousand surprised to read this considering my notation 8 SM N950FD supports both otg and reading from big drives. The apps I use are ES File Explorer, Xplore File Manager, Solid Explorer, and have used Mixed File Manager, Root Explorer and total commander besides for this. Sometimes it will show incompatible file system for that plug the drive into a pc or laptop and repair the drive and after finihing use information technology on the phone I'm sure information technology volition work.
Hop this helps. Ciao.

Hi,
I'thou surprised to read this considering my note 8 SM N950FD supports both otg and reading from large drives. The apps I apply are ES File Explorer, Xplore File Manager, Solid Explorer, and have used Mixed File Manager, Root Explorer and total commander besides for this. Sometimes it will show incompatible file system for that plug the drive into a pc or laptop and repair the drive and later on finihing apply it on the phone I'm sure it will work.Hop this helps. Ciao.
Same here. I have no effect using USB OTG or large external HDDs on my N950N either.

I know this thread is old but I've been dealing with this issue as well. Everything else works (charging, PC file transfer) except OTG. Tried everything listed in this thread and others (developer options, etc etc). I finally gave in and brought it to a repair center and the guy said he thought information technology might be debris packed into my USB port.
It's non that the pins were muddy (I've cleaned it with alcohol) but a little grime was actually deep inside the port, packed in every time I plug something in. He says he couldn't clean it himself because he risked damaging the pins only said I was gratis to endeavor before paying 150 for replacement port.
Long story short, I just used a twisted paper clip and went HAM on that damn port (taking intendance not to touch the middle board where the thing is) but dragging the metal against the back of the "donut" surface area
Honestly at that place wasn't much in there but guess what. It worked. I'm guessing Samsung OTG is super sensitive to how deep the plug is depressed into the port (fifty-fifty if the pins otherwise connect)
So subsequently hours of trying software stuff and virtually paying $150 I stock-still OTG with just 5 minutes and a paper clip.
Promise this helps anyone having similar issues!!!!!
